In 2025, Ttax has found updates to the 2023 software in the desk top version. Should I go ahead and update 2023 or refuse the update and amend the return with the non-updated software that was used in 2023?

Definitely update the software before you begin your amended return for 2023. Be sure to include your state if necessary as well.

Big issue: It is important to make a secure copy of the original file you are updating because the amended file will wipe out the previous datafile.
