I amended due to the changes in unemployment taxes and becoming eligible for eitc. I now have a date for my additional return, but the amount is only half of what it is supposed to be. Why is this?

Did you use the IRS website for the status of the amended tax return, Form 1040-X - https://www.irs.gov/filing/amended-return-frequently-asked-questions

Or did you use the IRS website for the status of the original tax return that was filed - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

The IRS website for tax refunds is only for the original tax return. So if you have an amount shown on that website it is not from your amended tax return.
