Amended Return several times, amount not updated, IRS charged multiple times

Hello,

For the first time I had to amend my return. I had my state and federal returns accepted when I realized I missed an income that I needed to report. I went through the amendment process with the 1099-NEC. It accepted federal, but failed state. I tried again, as it said I had no state errors. I failed again, and called TurboTax. It turns out you can’t direct deposit on State amended returns, so when I used another payment method it worked.

before the amended returns, I owed $92 in federal. After the amended return, I owed more. But the IRS deducted from my bank account all three times times, for each accepted return I tried (I didn’t see an option to only amend state). I checked the forms that it wasn’t adding my 1099-NEC three times. The bank account also isn’t pending, it’s officially deducted four times (original + 3 attempts). The State is fine since I paid what I owed on the one success. Additionally, TurboTax still shows my original $92 federal owed.

Should  I call the IRS for a refund? Or will they handle it after a few weeks? Should I call TurboTax? I’m sorry, I’m so nervous about this.

I would call the IRS just because you have multiple payments.  See Let us help you for the phone numbers.
