Hello,
I submitted my eFile mid-April 2022. Received refund within a few weeks. I realized after that, I had forgotten a 1099 from an investment account. I filed a 1040X amended return to include the form I had originally forgotten...which resulted in owing an additional whopping $3. I wrote a check and included it in the 1040x envelope that I mailed...IRS received it late April 2022. When checking the "Where's My Amended Return?" site, I see it has updated to:
"Your account was adjusted on December 23, 2022. Within three weeks, you will receive a notice that explains the adjustment."
Anyone know why it doesn't just say completed? According to TurboTax I shouldn't be due any refund at this point, and included a check for the additional amount I owed. Does anyone have experience with this?

@dp92 - you just have to wait. it may simply be a letter confirming that they way you did hte amendment is the way the IRS adjusted your account.
look at your transcript and see if there is simply the $3 to zero everything out. That will give you a clue and peice of mind while waiting for the IRS letter to arrive.

Because the IRS doesn't use normal everyday language that is understandable to ordinary people. They use bureaucratic jargon. "Your account was adjusted" means they finished processing your amended return. The notice that you get in a few weeks is going to say something like "We made the adjustments that you requested." (I don't remember the exact wording.) Don't worry about it. Everything is okay.
