amended fed and state

When I amended my federal return and the changes were automatically applied to my state (as it should), when I e-file my amended federal return, does my state return get automatically sent as well?  It never gave me an option to e-file my state return so I assumed it automatically  e-filed the state return.  If it didn't, then I need to e-file my state return

Did you select your State to also be e-filed.  TurboTax does not automatically file your returns, you need to select the returns you want to e-file.  Now with that said, It depends on what State you live in, not all states allow e-file of an amended return. Most states require taxpayers to paper file amended returns.

TurboTax supports e-filing your amended return in the following states:

• California
• North Carolina
• Colorado
• Georgia
• Michigan
• New York
• Pensylvannia
• Vermont
• Wisconsin

You can e-file an amended return in the following states, but not in TurboTax. If you're amending in one of these states, you'll need to print and mail your return or e-file directly with your state.
