Amended before receiving refund

Hello,

I filed my taxes through TurboTax and initially thought I didn't receive the 3rd $1400 stimulus. After checking my bank account again, I actually did receive the 3rd stimulus of $1400 back in March of 2021. So the next day I amended my tax return. 

I was thinking that I will get my initial refund and then the $1400 will be taken out of my account on the future date I set. My brother is going through the same situation as well but he set the date to take out the $1400 closer than the date I set. He ended up getting his refund amended without the $1400 and additional $1400 was taken out from his account. So basically the IRS owes him money unless we have to pay back the 3rd stimulus. 

I don't want the same situation to happen to me. So my question is what should I do? Will the IRS automatically fix the situation? Any help would be appreciated.

You shouldn't do anything at this point.  For future reference, don't file an amended return until your original return has been processed by the IRS.  It's hard to say what the IRS will do.  The IRS will eventually sort things out, but there may be delays in the processing and you could end up in the same situation as your brother.  You will just have to wait to hear from the IRS.
