I had to amend my taxes because I thought her father claimed her and he did not. I received my original refund but it’s been weeks and I still have not gotten the $2000 back from the child tax credit.

You amended to get the child tax credit?  It will be more than weeks--it can take months for the IRS to process an amended return.  And...you are not going to "receive" $2000.    The refundable portion of the CTC is a maximum of $1500.

You can watch for information here:

    https://www.irs.gov/Filing/Individuals/Amended-Returns-(Form-1040-X)/Wheres-My-Amended-Return-1

The maximum amount of the child tax credit is now $2000 per child; the refundable “additional child tax credit” amount is $1500.   In order to get that credit, you have to have income from working.  The credit is calculated based on the amount you earned above $2500 multiplied by 15%, up to the full $1500 per child. If the amount you earned was too low, you will not get the full $1500.

If your child is older than 16 at the end of 2022, you do not get the CTC.  But you may still get the non-refundable $500 credit for other dependents instead.

Any additional refund from an amendment will take a long time. The IRS is dealing with the e-filed returns that were timely submitted. In addition, they must now doublecheck that you are entitled to this additional amount. If you count this time period in weeks, you will be frustrated.
