I made a mistake on my original taxes regarding the 1,400$ stimulus check in 2021. I amended them and went back in to fix it. (Reading online I was not suppose to do that because the IRS will automatically fix it for me).
Now the IRS took out 1,400$ from my bank account and 1,400$ from my refund. When they were only suppose to take from one. How do I get my 1,400$ back?

When you filed the amendment, did you schedule a payment of $1400 to pay back the Recovery Rebate you were not supposed to claim on your original return? They would not have taken the $1400 without you scheduling or making the payment; they would just deduct the $1400. If you made a payment in 2022, it will be credited to next year's return. You can file another amended return claiming the Recovery Rebate again if you don't want to wait and apply the payment to next year's tax return.
yes I scheduled it because I had to when I amended my taxes. However they had corrected it automatically and took out the 1,400$ from my refund as well. So they ended up taking it out of my bank account and out of my refund. In order to get that back do I amend them again? or will that screw it up even more? Thanks for your help.
When your 1040-X is processed, your refund will be adjusted to the tune of $1,400 .
There is nothing for you to do.
Do not file another amended tax return.
