Hi, this is my first time doing my own taxes and I left off one of my last names in the past I have had trouble with getting a refund due to my last names. I made what I thought was a simple change to add my second last name, turns out it was an amended tax that I did, will this change my original refund date ? Did I do an unnecessary amend ? Will the IRS process this or throw it out ? Basically I just want to know if I will get my refund in the original date I was given ? thanks sorry this is so long

If your original tax return has been accepted by the IRS, this means that the IRS has correctly matched your name with your SSN and the return will be processed and you should receive your refund within the usual 3 weeks if the IRS finds no errors in your return.

Your amended return should not interfere with the processing of your original return, especially if it shows no change in your tax liability and refund.
