Did you already e-file?  If so, you cannot amend at this time.   And ----before you try to amend in late February---which is the soonest you can do so----please explain what you are trying to do.   What filing status did you use when you filed your tax return?  What are you wanting to change it to?

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I was prompted online to file single (legally separated), but was unsure after I did it because until the separation agreement, we have used married filing separately. I guess I was just second guessing and wanted to be sure.

Very few states have a "legal separation" allowed but if your state allows it and you have a signed document from the court  then you can file as SINGLE ... that is the correct filing status.
