I have always helped my grown son do his taxes. I realize that I will have to download from the internet now, but it's not clear whether he and I will each have to purchase and download a copy of Turbotax. Can we both use one copy and establish different "accounts" with different email addresses and user info?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Should be the same as before. You can install the program on 5 computers you own. Or do you help him by using it on the same computer? Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac).
The downloaded TurboTax software can only be used with one TurboTax account. The software is tied to the account that it's purchased under. You can file your son's tax return under your account. He does not need a separate account. As far as processing of the tax return is concerned, it doesn't matter what account it's filed from.
If you feel a need for separate TurboTax accounts for some reason, you would have to buy two copies of the software (one in each account) and install them on separate computers.
