Why does it say say on turbo tax that my tax return was excpted but on the irs website it says its still being processed

After efiling "accepted"  means the return meets all the basic requirements and specifications for the IRS to start processing it.   After efiling, an "accepted" notice (or "rejected") usually occurs within 24-48 hours after efiling.   Processing can occur for 1-3 weeks or even longer.

The IRS says most people receive their refunds within 21 days.   Some take more processing, often because of certain credits, or some are even pulled at random for more review.
