Addition Refund

I received an additional refund check. There was no accompanying letter or explanation. How can I find the reason for the second refund ?

Did you have both a federal tax refund and a state tax refund?  If so, each tax refund is separate and sent from a separate tax authority.

Or if this is from the same tax authority as the first tax refund, you will receive a letter in mail within a few weeks explaining why you received this additional refund.

If you filed early and had Schedule D for investments or sales in your return the IRS had an update and has been sending refunds or tax due bills.
