Ok if you have a 570 code (refund held). Will there still be a processing date?.

so I have a EIC DEDUCTION …

                     ACTC. DEDUCTION

A PROCESSING DATE OF 3/6/23

but then a 570 code no actions to take..could I still possibly luck out on 3/6? Or is that  more of a place holder date ?? How’s that work? The return should be accurate

Code 570 on your tax transcript means that the IRS has put on hold the processing of your return. This could be due to a number of reasons:

This IRS guide describes code 570 as Additional Liability Pending and/or Credit Hold.

This code will be reversed by code 571 when the IRS resumes processing your return.

What initiates the processing to resume? Is it systemic like 1-2 cycles or is it looking for some trigger. Particular date to resume?

It depends on why the hold was placed.

If your hold was due to the PATH act, the hold is lifted around February 15. The PATH act is triggered by claiming the Child Tax Credit and/ or Earned Income Credit.

If your hold was due to missing forms like 1095-A the IRS will contact you to correct the return before resuming processing.

Most other holds are lifted in a week or two and the process is automatic.
