I was confused about a number so I tried to print the forms. After I print it, it shows the return is ready to mail but I need to make more changes. How to reopen it?
Adding state or amend will all go to the amend page which is not ready yet.

Do NOT start an amended return, or you will have problems. The way to correct something in an unfiled return is avoid the amend link and reopen the return using the Add a State method.
Log in and go to the Tax Home (it may open there). Look for a link "Add a State." That does not really add one, but should open the return interview back up. Once you make your corrections, run the Federal review and state review if applicable. At the FILE section you can change the filing method from "file by mail" to efile, if you wish.
"Adding state or amend will all go to the amend page which is not ready yet."
Does that mean you have already been trying to re-open it by clicking on "Add a State?" I know of no other way to open the return interview back up other than the "Add a State" method (except for the amending process if one needs to amend a filed return, which is not your situation.) Clicking on "Add a State" should not normally take one to "Amend." However, if you earlier had clicked on Amend, I'm wondering if it started a Form 1040X in the background that you can't yet access to undo since that part doesn't open up until Feb. 26. I would think that amend process would be completely blocked, but if that's what happened, once it's possible you will need to undo the "Amended" return and delete the Form 1040X once it becomes available. So for right now, if "Add a State" does not open up your return interview and instead leads to "Amend", then you are likely to be in limbo a few days until you see what happens after Feb. 26, when that process is supposed to open up. If that's what happened, and after that date it still thinks you are amending the return, then, hopefully, you can undo/cancel the Form 1040X at that time. You may get some other thoughts/ideas from other users in this thread during the day.
The behavior is flaky.
Sometimes when clicking Add a state it will jump to the amend page, and showing amend is not available yet.
Then I tried more times, sometimes it shows my current state in a list, which I can edit it, then it will open the state tax, but the sidebar won't show federal tax menus.
Then I somehow was able to open the federal tax and noticed if i change the url from
it will work.
Then this morning I tried add state again it will open both state and federal return.
It seems the key is the URL.
