2021 amendment is not accepted for efile

I am trying amend my 2021 tax return. But the efile option is not going through it says efile can only be done until Oct 15 2021!!

Please help

The only way to file an amended 2021 return is by mail.

Only certain paid tax pros can still e-file past year amended returns. You cannot e-file an amended return that you prepared yourself using TurboTax. Your 1040X must be printed, signed and dated in ink, and then you need to mail it in. Use a mailing service like certified mail so you will know the IRS received it, since you will have a long wait for it to be processed.

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return. During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six to nine months or more for many amended returns. Do not expect quick results from amending. When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check. They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns. You can watch for information here:

In the FILE tab choose to mail in the return then in the print center the correct forms and mailing instructions will be in the PDF.

Same situation Randv2 here. Given that the IRS allows a taxpayer to amend 2021 when it opens tax year 2022 on 1/23/23, are you saying that TurboTax does not allow e-filing of the 2021 1040X when the original 2021 was e-filed and accepted by the IRS using TurboTax? We did not figure out our problem until after October 2022.

We absolutely dread mailing a paper tax return to the post-pandemic IRS given this press release and others:

The only way to amend your return through Turbo Tax for a prior year's return is through the mail. This is due to the e-filing for that tax year has closed.

So I am also attempting to file my amended 2021 returns. In TT2021, it states "You can efile your amended returns." I go through all the screens and then it pops up about the dates not being available. If it is a requirement to file by mail, WHY DOES TTAX STATE THE AMENDED RETURNS CAN BE EFILED? I was relying on the ability to efile them, only to find this out just now. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LAME AND VERY ANNOYING.
