2020 Tax Refund

Hi! I filed my taxes 2/12/2021 and they were accepted on the same day. Then a few weeks later the IRS had sent me a letter regarding that I turn in my health insurance tax forms, which I turned in through the mail and got a certified return receipt back from them. However, it has been about over a month since I have sent those forms and I have yet to receive my refund. On the IRS tracking site it still says it is being processed. Is there any way I can check the status other than the IRS tracking site to know when I will be receiving my refund?!

You could try calling the IRS but it is very difficult to get through to the IRS: For individuals: 800-829-1040

The IRS is seriously backlogged and therefore, it is taking longer for returns to be processed. Your best information will still be the IRS Where's My Refund? site.

Please see What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days? for additional information.

All you can do now is, wait. At least you know that the IRS has your filing. It does not matter who sent your 1040 to the IRS. The IRS is the sole destination for tax returns. No one has discovered a way to make the IRS speed up sending out refunds. No one ever will because the IRS is an overwhelmed, over worked, under funded and under staffed government bureaucracy. Eventually you will get the pay off of your no interest loan to the government.

Have you thought of paying just enough by estimates or withholding to avoid a penalty and let the government wait for your check?
