What does the irs actually do with your tax file when it gets “processed”?  Is it manually looked at by a person?  Or ran through a system that checks it?

is this the same process for processing an amendment?

All returns are screened through a set of IRS systems for consistency and validity. These computer programs look for completeness, fraud, identity theft and other issues.
