Question

Tax return is delayed?

Mine went from one bar to “we apologize your tax return has been delayed longer than the normal timeframe” I tried to check my transcript and there’s no transcript available for 2021. Should I be concerned? Like cause I am. I have an amended return that they still have not processed from last year and they said to give them until March 7th for that. It’s like they just pushed mine to the side. Is anyone else experiencing something like this?

transcripts of your return (vs tax reporting  documents) don't show up until after return is processed

So they haven’t even processed it yet then. My return was accepted 1/27. Should I call them and see what the hold up is? Or give it a few more days? This stresses me out and I don’t want to make an unnecessary call if other people are having this issue and it’s being resolved in a timely matter

I checked mine this morning and it said the same thing. I filed 1/29/22. I did receive a w2 after I filed. I forgot all about it, I was hired into the company and it was from the temp service. I was told to wait til I get my refund before filing an amendment, or to see if the irs corrects it. So not sure if this is why or it’s maybe from the child tax credit and earned income credit?

The IRS did not begin processing returns containing the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until recently @KT3mama.

By law, the IRS can’t issue EITC or ACTC refunds before mid-February. This includes your entire refund, not just the part that’s related to the credit you claimed on your tax return.

If you claim the EITC or ACTC, the may need more information from you about your return. If we do, we will send you a letter.

For your amended return, if it was mailed May or later, it is still being processed. As to this year's return, it was only accepted Jan 27. The only way to have a processed return this fast is to have no children, no stimulus, etc. IRS will delay processing by 2-3 weeks if an income tax return has the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Child Tax Credit (CTC), since these credits are often misused. In addition, cross-checking of stimulus payments, etc may cause additional delays. Your return will say processing until they have a payment date. Once they determine a date, the program will update.
