Stimulus refund not correct

So I filled this seasons taxes

and when I got my refund I noticed my stimulus was only 1800

it should have been 2400 as there are 4 of us not three

also this was the 2nd round

I never got it so was told to claim it on taxes

the software calculation must have been off

what should my next action be to get the other 600

You can check line 30 on your Form 1040 what amount you had claimed on your tax return.

Did maybe one of your children turn 17 in 2020?

If you only claimed $1,800 the you will have to amend your tax return to claim the additional $600 if you qualify. Please see FAQ How to amend a tax return for instructions.

To claim the credit in TurboTax, please follow these steps:

Log into TurboTax.
After entering all your information click "Federal Review" at the top of your screen (or click "Search" and type "Stimulus" and follow the jump to link).
On the screen "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount" click "Continue".
You will be asked about the amounts of first round and second round stimulus payments you received. If you did not receive a payment enter "0".
TurboTax will then calculate the amount of stimulus payment remaining that you are still entitled to get.
Any stimulus amount remaining due to you will show as a credit on line 30 of the 1040.

To be eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit you need to be a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien in 2020 and have a Social Security number that is valid for employment.

You cannot be claimed as a dependent by someone else to be eligible.

Your credit amount will be reduced if your 2020 adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than:

$150,000 if married and filing a joint return or filing as a qualifying widow or widower
$112,500 if filing as head of household or
$75,000 for eligible individuals filing as a single or as married filing separately.

Your payment will be reduced by 5% of the amount by which your AGI exceeds the applicable threshold above. (IRS FAQ Recovery Rebate Credit )

If line 30 shows $2,400 but the IRS made an adjustment then the IRS will send you an explanation statement why they made the changes. Please read the statement carefully. It will provide information what steps to take if you do not agree.

Line 30 shows 1800

and yes one of my boys turned 17 in 2020

does that mean he doesn’t get a stimulus check ??

Correct, for the first and second stimulus payments only dependents under 17 at the end of 2020 qualified for the payment. But you should receive the third stimulus payment for him.

"Unlike the first two payments, the third stimulus payment is not restricted to children under 17. Eligible families will get a payment based on all of their qualifying dependents claimed on their return, including older relatives like college students, adults with disabilities, parents and grandparents" (IRS).
