I bought TurboTax Deluxe Fed & State desktop version on Amazon.  Why is there an additional charge to e-file my CO return?

    E-filing fee in desktop software

Did you purchase desktop software with state software included?  They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose.  And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state.  There is an extra fee to e-file the state. Before March 1 that fee is $20; after March 1 it increases to $25.  You can avoid the state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.

Thanks.  Does online version also charge to e-file CO?

When you use online TurboTax, any of the paid versions will have separate fees for preparing a federal return and a state return.  There is not an extra fee to e-file, but you pay for each return ---federal and state.  (It ends up costing more than the CD/download and you get one return per fee.)

Oh...and you cannot switch back and forth and use the CD/download for federal and online for state.
