IRS Rejection code FW2G-502

The e-file of my federal taxes has been rejected twice with code FW2G-502. It keeps coming back rejected even after I did a cut-and-paste of the same EIN and payer information that was filed and accepted in 2020. Also, the error lists all W2G not specifying exactly which one they think is wrong. What can I do, other than print and file manually?

You could try clearing the EIN field and typing in the EIN manually. Sometimes when you cut and paste, the number is not read the same way by the software as it is when you type it in.

If your rejection code doesn't have an extension after 502, there is no way to tell which W2G form is being flagged. For example FW2G-502-02 would mean it is the second W2G in the return.

By the way, since you have already submitted your e-file, you have five days to correct the return and get it accepted. Even though this is the deadline day, you have a bit more time to get your return filed.

thanks. I'll try typing the EIN directly in forms view. Hopefully that will work

Retyping everything by hand in the forms view did not work. My e-file was rejected again with the same error: "FW2G-502 - Form W-2G, 'PayerEIN' must match data in the e-File database". I'm at a loss for what to do next.
