Install older CD versions concern

Since the IRS can audit back 7 years and then go back another 3, I am concerned that if I have to revise an older return, that Turbotax is useless.   I have the desk top CD's back to 1998 and if I were to need to revise a 2017 or worst case 2014 return, the only way would be to have left the last 10 years of installs on an old desktop machine?

Sorry----TT does not support the software that is older than three years back.   You cannot get support, updates or state downloads for any year older three years now.

even if older versions are installed on an older machine, most if not all will fail to function/open because the update server is no longer available. For example, I tried to open the desktop apps for 2018 through 2020. All had the latest updates at the time I last used them. I was asked for the license code which I entered. They still failed to function. Some have posted that they got certain earlier years to function. What I'm saying is don't count on getting any but 2021-2024 to function.

Given that TurboTax is not providing support that aligns to the IRS audit regulations, it makes you wonder why anyone would ever choose the audit protection offer.   I may have to seriously reconsider my continuing use of Turbotax
