Just because you can order a transcript does NOT mean your return has been processed or that a refund has been released or a date for release set.... that is an old wives tale.  Even if you have a date posted the IRS can still stop the refund to audit the return.

The IRS was not going to start processing returns until the 29th and refunds were not expected until 2/7 or later however this government shut down may effect that time table if it lasts for more than a week ....and don't be surprised if things are delayed much longer as the employees play catch up after the time off and begin returning to the job   ...

Do I still have to deal with my taxes?

Of course! Though the bulk of IRS employees have been furloughed (just like they were in 2013 ), you're still responsible for filing your tax return. And if you're expecting a refund, it might well be delayed.

AND the IRS will hold all 2017 tax returns that have a tax refund which includes EIC and/or the Additional Child Tax Credit util mid-February. They will release the tax refunds in late February if there are no errors on the tax return.

well on the sight for the IRS I believe it says Q13. it says that even if we are able to get transcripts that it does not mean anything. Which I had the same hopes and when I read it, it was shot down when I read it. But I have not heard anything on anything. I am probably going to call an advocate on Monday.

I do not see why they wouldn't talk with you about it, being that if the tables were turned the wouldn't be so closed off. They know more than they are wanting to say.Crazy.

@puckwood24  see I have never had to verify anything nor have I received a letter. I called them to see about thing and I was told it was under a 45 day review. I also filed on the 8th of February. I think either there is a glitch going on or the system they have verifying who is who is trash. I am one of the 1 in 11million that are still waiting on there money. it is crazy, I have never had any trouble like this in all the years I have been alive and working. I do not agree with any of it. Makes me wonder if the ones that filed using a 3rd party have received theres. I filed my taxes for the first time using turbo tax and I run into this problem. I am not saying it is the Turbo tax fault I am just telling how I went about filing this year.
