After I filed my taxes, I realized that I failed to enter information from my child's 1099 Q into TurboTax. I amended my return, entered the information, and found that it doesn't have an impact on my taxes. However, to ensure that the IRS doesn't penalize me for this omission, I need to print and submit this form. How do I print it when it does not show in my downloaded set of forms?
The 1099-Q is an input form. It is not a form that generates on a tax return. Only taxable 529 plan distributions end up on your return, on line 21 of the 1040. There is no "1099-Q form" on your taxes.
If your 1099-Q distribution isn't taxable, it won't actually be reported anywhere on your return. There's no "I got a 1099-Q, but its not taxable" form-equivalent.
There's nothing for you to amend. Do not send the IRS an amendment, as you aren't actually changing anything.
You won't be penalized, as there's nothing to penalize you for.
