Error in Computing AGI for 2025

I have used Turbotax for several years and have had full confidence in Turbotax until this year (2025).  This year the IRS reviewed my tax return (submitted using Turbotax) and they replied as follows:  We changed the amount of taxable Social Security benefits on your tax return because there was an error in the computation of the taxable amount.

The IRS calculated my AGI at 68.58% higher than Turbotax calculated my AGI.  That caused my taxable income to go up 156%.

I was excited when Turbotax indicated what my refund would be.  It took a while for the IRS to review the return.  Then I was disappointed when the IRS said that my refund would be only 28% of the Turbotax refund amount.

Now I’m considering using something other than Turbotax for next year’s taxes.

On a separate note, I’m disappointed that when creating this post, I am limited to the Q&A kind of topic.  The conversation option is grayed out.

A common problem this year is people not answering a SS question  wrong or skipping it and not getting any taxable amount on 1040 or 1040SR line 6b.  It's due to skipping the next screen asking if you lived in a Foreign Country or answering it wrong.
