Question

Do I need to do a 1099X this year or ?

I did my 2025 tax returns (1099SR) and sent then in on 1/27/26. A couple days later I received a 1099K for eBay (not expected). In my returns I sent in, I did include my additional 2025 earnings from eBay of $1300, but after receiving my 1099K from eBay it showed I received $1500 ($200 more). I am over 65; I filed married with adjusted gross income of $39, 658 and took the standard deduction. My question is do I need to do a 1099X to show the $200 difference or what other options do I have, thank you

Yes.  If you reported income of $200 less than you actually received, you would need to file form 1040X to amend your return and correct the error.  The IRS received a copy of your 1099-K from eBay so it does need to match what they received from eBay or the numbers still need to be reconciled to show why you reported $1,300 instead of $1,500.

In reality, there is a good chance that you will not see much of a change, if any, when you amend your return.  However, the IRS does use computer matching  so to avoid a letter from the IRS, it is best to make the correction.
