I left something off of my original return and will be sending in my amended return which will require a payment. Do I send the payment check at the same time I mail the amended return or do I need to wait until it's processed and I receive a bill from the government?

I guess an additional question is, I see online there is IRS payment options to pay electronically. Can I just make those payments now online and send the mail later today? How do I tie them to my amended return?
