Amend 2025

I e-filed my 2025 taxes and a week later I realized that I need to amend it with no changes to Fed/State Refunds/Payment.

The amendment is only adding one more account to Form8938.

I know it has to be mailed so 2 questions

  1. Do I also have to send something to state also?
  2. Do I just send the 1040x Plus the Form 8938 I added?

Thanks

If you used TurboTax to e-file your original 2025 tax return, you can likely e-file your amendment as well, rather than mailing it.

Also, since you are only adding Form 8938 and your total tax, income and refund are not changing, you generally do not need to file a state amendment.

TurboTax makes it easy for you to file an amendment. Here is a link on how to proceed with the amendment in TurboTax.

When you start your amendment, TurboTax will walk you through the section where you can add the missing account details to Form 8938.

Note: To prevent processing delays, if the IRS has not completed processing your original return, do not efile your amendment yet. The IRS recommends waiting until your original return is fully processed and the first refund is issued (if applicable) before filing the 1040-X.
