ACA tax credit

I am working in Turbotax Deluxe Desktop version for my 2025 taxes.   I get insurance in Maryland from ACA (Maryland Health Connection.)  So I get a 1095-A.  But we get an RHRA from my spouse's employer, so we are not eligible for the tax credit/subsidy.  But this year there were no eligibility questions.   I can't get turbotax to remove the credit.  What can I do?  I deleted form 8962, but I assume tomorrow when I check, it will repopulate since I have to have the 1095-A info in Turbotax.  My printer is not working, and it will be a real pain in the but to mail, and I wonder how this will transfer to Maryland state taxes that I have not started working on.

You have to file Form 8962.  I recommend you file your return with the 8962 and then report your situation to the "Marketplace" or Maryland Health Connection asap.  You should have notified them as soon as you became aware that you weren't eligible for the Premium Tax Credits.

Report changes in circumstances when you re-enroll in coverage and during the year.

If advance payment of the premium tax credit (APTC) is being paid for an individual in your tax family (described later) and you have had certain changes in circumstances (see the examples later), it is important that you report them to the Marketplace where you enrolled in coverage. Reporting changes in circumstances promptly will allow the Marketplace to adjust your APTC to reflect the PTC you are estimated to be able to take on your tax return.

Adjusting your APTC when you re-enroll in coverage and during the year can help you avoid owing tax when you file your tax return. Changes that you should report to the Marketplace include the following.

    • Changes in household income.
    • Moving to a different address.
    • Gaining or losing eligibility for other health care coverage.
    • Gaining, losing, or other changes to employment.
    • Birth or adoption.
    • Marriage or divorce.
    • Other changes affecting the composition of your tax family.

For more information on how to report a change in circumstances to the Marketplace, go to HealthCare.gov or your State Marketplace website.

I never said I took an advance credit.  I took no credit.     Turbotax is trying to give me the credit on my return and I don't know how to stop it.  And for you info (from Turbotax help):

Updated March 18, 2026 2:09 PM TurboTax will automatically fill out Form 8962 once you enter your Form 1095-A. You have to include Form 8962 with your tax return if: You qualified for the Premium Tax Credit in 2025 You or someone on your tax return received advance payments of the Premium Tax Credit A member of your family received advance payments of the Premium Tax Credit, even if you didn’t include this person on your tax return This credit is only available to people enrolled in qualified health plans through Healthcare.gov or a state Marketplace. Note: If your e-file is being rejected with code F8962-070, see this article. What if I filed my taxes without Form 8962? If you filed your taxes without Form 8962, but need to include it, don’t amend your return. Wait until the IRS sends you a notice requesting the form. If you received a notice from the IRS requesting Form 8962, you’ll have to add a Form 1095-A to your return in TurboTax, print Form 8962, and mail it to the IRS. For more info on this process, go here.

SO I do NOT have to do a form 8962.  And I can't figure out how to get Turbotax to stop giving me the credit.  I did everything I needed to with the Maryland Health Exchange.  Once again, I have not taken any credit, and I can't stop Turbotax from giving it to me.
