2024 State return not filed

I filed my 2024 federal and state return via the turbotax app. I selected the online deluxe $39 federal and $39 state with the extra $40 fee to process the fees from my federal return. These all show on the order still. My federal return was accepted processed and refund recieved. My state return looks to have just never been processed/filed by Turbotax. It has no option under the state return field for 2024 just has a link for how to check refund status. If i do download/print return I can see the filled out return but it has the do not file form not final. I spoke with support and they just kept asking their internal AI which said I should buy the 2024 desktop software to download and print without the watermark. But is it even going to let me do that if the issue is that it was never filed on the turbotax side? And should I have to pay that fee again if its on my order? Also wont starting a new return make it subject to the late filing fees from the state vs the original one being filed with the form showing the original order date?

You will have to use the 2024 desktop edition to print and mail the state tax return without the watermark on the state form.

However, since you used and paid for the Online Deluxe edition with a State return, TurboTax support should be able to push the 2024 Deluxe desktop edition to your TurboTax account at no charge to you.

You will need the 2024 tax data file from the online edition.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download .tax file

Once the 2024 desktop edition is installed you need to open the 2024 tax data file you downloaded by clicking on File in the upper left of the desktop program screen and then click on Open Tax Return.

A 2024 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax.

Since you are receiving a state tax refund there will not be a penalty for filing the 2024 state tax return after the due date.  You have up to 3 years from the due date of the tax return to file for a tax refund.

You will have to contact TurboTax support for assistance with this problem.  Use the key words Billing Issue

Use this phone number and select TurboTax - 1-800-4-INTUIT (1-800-446-8848)

As a side note….the issue you have with the “Do not file-- Form not Final” on the paper forms?

That happens for a few states that allow you to E-file that state’s taxes before their actual paper forms have been finalized.  Then TTX locks the “Online” forms in the PDF in the exact status the forms were in when you e-filed….even if the state accepts those electronic forms.  You should  double-check your bank statements from 2025 (when 2024 was submitted), for just the few months after you e-filed, to make sure you didn’t get a refund deposit from the 3rd party processor (that took the $40 fee), or from the state,  showing up in you monthly statements…..Fed and State refunds would show up on different dates.  (and I’m assuming you were supposed to get a state refund too)….that would indicate that the State did actually receive and accept your 2024 tax submission.

Generally speaking, the “Do Not File” on the paper forms problem, only happens if you file during January, and only occasionally during early February for those states affected.   Usually, it’s safer to file in Mid-Feb to Mid-March for other issues, to avoid having to amend if you receive some other late tax forms you might get unexpectedly.   So don’t file real early (i.e. during January) if you can avoid it.

In the past, TTX offers a link to a state tax page to show what state forms are not ready yet, and some “expected” dates for them to be ready….(but they haven’t allowed us helpers to post the link in this new Community Forum setup...yet)
