It is what it is. No matter what you think the IRS probably can careless as they make the rules. Not trying to be rude but be thankful you're getting money back to begin with. Waiting an extra week or two shouldn't make your financial work collapse. Or you could go live in a 3rd world country where they take taxes and give nothing back.

Just a slight clarification.   The IRS does NOT make the rules.  It is called the PATH ACT, because it was an act of Congress, (a law) that made the "rule which is a law.   The IRS only applies and enforces the law that Congress passed.

The reason for the delay is to allow time for the IRS to receive W-2's and other forms to verify income before blindly paying claimed refunds that are based on that income in order to prevent tax fraud by claiming refunds that are based on income that does not exist.   Claiming fake income to get EIC/ACTC credits was a high runner tax fraud prior to the PATH ACT.

Taxpayers who claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit may experience a refund hold. According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue these refunds before mid-February. The IRS expects the first EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by the first week of March, if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return. Check Where’s my refund for your personalized refund date.

WMR on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go App will be updated with projected deposit dates for most early EITC/ACTC refund filers by February 22. So EITC /ACTC filers will not see an update to their refund status for several days after Feb. 15.

The IRS, tax preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates, so Where’s My Refund? remains the best way to check the status of a refund. Where’s My Refund? is only updated once daily, usually overnight, so you don’t need to check the status more often.

Why every year I get over here seem like people go to copy and paste stuff on the site on things that we already seen to know. Lmoa just saying makes no sense and that's just a waste of your time and ours.. continue

Absolutely.  Everyone seems to know everything.  I'm wondering do they work for the IRS

Still nothing yet for me. Accepted on 1/21, I estimated 21 days being 2/11 which is tomorrow. I live in Florida so we don't file state taxes. I found a generator thing online, unsure of its reliability, where you put in your acceptance date and it tells you what date you get your direct deposit at the latest. Mine said the 10th so I set up direct deposit alerts with my bank account to see if I get my deposit sometime in the next 48 hours. I also heard somewhere that they send DDs on Thursday nights for the week before, does anyone know if there is any truth to that statement?

My state says processed on 02/03. Should be posted in 15 business days so was checking if by chance sooner. I had to do a ID quiz.

Since this weekend, not I'm getting "REFUND STATUS ERROR" what does that mean? I am getting EIC this year, the first time in almost a decade. Always made too much in the previous years. I guess losing my job mid-way did that.

So I called the 800 number and got an automated system and it stated that my refund is being processed. Not able to get live person 😞

Is anyone else going thru this? I guess I not getting anything until Mar 1?

@iamthatnerd call one eight hundred eight two none one zero four zero. Options 1 for english, 2 for personal, 1 for tax forms or history, 3 for all other questions,  2 again for same option.  Then it's going to ask you to enter your social DO NOT it will ask twice. THEN it will ask you another question hit 2 for personal  and  it will transfer you to a live person

I filed federal on 1/25 and it was accepted on 1/27 the bars and it had bars but now no bars, no path message and it says it is being processed now what does it mean  I filed and was accepted on 1/30 for California no movement since then just being processed which I thought state did not have to be under the PATH act....

I checked This morning and I saw I don’t have any bars either and the 152 cod  I filed 1/23 and got accepted 1/23. I don’t really understand what that means but I know I don’t have any offsets when I called.

Monday is President's day so the first of refunds may be on Wednesday and Friday. Things really have changed over the years as I remember back on my taxes.
