Trouble

Yes, but you can avoid trouble by filing an amended return and removing that information.  By indicating you are blind, you received an additional $1,300 standard deduction which likely reduced your taxes (or increased your refund amount).  If the IRS completely processes your return and issues your refund without making the adjustment, you will need to make the amendment yourself via an amended return. 

 

The amended tax form has not been released yet by the IRS, but should be available later this month.  At that time, please refer to this FAQ for instructions on filing an amendment: How to Amend
