Baby sitting Income

How do I file babysitting taxes if I do not work for a single family?  I mainly service tourist families, so it is usually one time jobs. I work approx 25hrs a week. Approx how much should I put away for taxes? Will I have to pay both employer and employee taxes? I am single no dependents.

You should include your Babysitting Income and related Expenses on Schedule C.  I would recommend setting aside about 20% of your earnings to cover self employment and income taxes.

You can include your earnings from your babysitting work in TurboTax Online by following these steps:

  • Login to your TurboTax Account
  • Click "Take Me To My Return"
  • Click "Federal" from the left side of your screen
  • Scroll down to "Self Employment" and click "Show More"
  • Click "Start" next to "Income and Expenses" and then click "Yes"
  • From here, TurboTax will walk you through entering your income and expenses from your babysitting work
