Working on sons 2018 return. he is college student and needs to file 8615. in past years you had to enter parent's and sibling income. how do you do that in 2019 for 2018

In previous years, there was a schedule(s) to enter parents and sibling income. TTax does not ask for it this year? Or, I'm not navigating TTax correctly. Did the tax law change on how to compute taxes for the dependent child who files their own return?

Yes, the new laws have changed how it is computed.

"Change in tax rates. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 has modified the tax rates and brackets that you will use to figure the tax on your 2018 unearned income. Your tax rate is no longer affected by the tax situation of your parents or the unearned income of any siblings. Instead, all net unearned income over a threshold amount of $2,100 for 2018 is taxed using the brackets and rates for estates and trusts." https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i8615.pdf

Then why does turbotax still ask what the income and taxes are for the parents, and what the parents total net investment is for other siblings?
