I turned 70 1/2 October 2018 but RMD was paid in January 2019 and the 1099-R form is for 2019. Should I include this with my 2018 taxes or wait for 2019 taxes?

I received the RMD payment from my 401k in January of 2019 and the Form 1099-R says Calendar year 2019.  My understanding is that this is ok since it is before April of 2019, the year after I turned 70 1/2.  However, I don't know when I should include this information on my income taxes.  Do I include this with the 2018 taxes or wait to report it wit my 2019 taxes.  Of course I will be getting another RMD in 2019 so that would mean reporting 2 RMDs in the same year.  What should I do?

You are correct. You would file this on your 2019 taxes since you received the payment in 2019 and the form is for 2019.

So how do I answer in turbotax? Was I not required to take 2018 RMD?
