Scholarship Income and State?

My scholarships have exceeded my tuition costs and count as taxable income this year. I am going to college in California but I am a resident of New York. Does this income count as California income or New York income for the state tax return forms?

Since this scholarship comes from your school in California, it is a CA source income.
