Property Taxes not deductible?

Why do my ~$30K in property taxes paid on my primary home not reduce my federal tax liability in the 2017 return?  I zero it out and my federal taxes do not change at all.  Shouldn't the entire amount be federal tax-deductible?  I appreciate anyone's help with what I am missing!  Thanks, Ryan

Property Taxes not deductible?

If you are subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), you cannot take itemized deductions for state and local income tax, real estate taxes and personal property taxes, even though these are deductible on your regular return.

Another possibility is that you had no taxable income on the return at the point of property tax entry.

The refund meter will not be completely accurate until you have entered all of your information including all income and deductions

In other words, do not concern yourself with the refund meter until you have completely prepared your return. If your final result is of concern at that time, we will be glad to address it for you.
