I need to amend a previous' year return to remove the $10 American Opportunity Tax Credit.
How can I do that? On this years' return I don't see the option either.
Background: TurboTax prides itself in finding the best solution and applies it automatically without asking for permission. As a result, I received $10 credit in 2014 (AOTC year 1), and I am loosing $2200 this year (AOTC year 5).
Could I just not ask for the deduction and not mention the 1098-T?
Thank you for any help you can provide.

You will need to override the Education Optimizer selection. Follow the steps in the TurboTax FAQ below to perform the override. Click "See entire answer" for the full page view.
Click the Search Topics icon at the top and type letme. Click Ok to continue. Yes, you could omit your 1098-T from your return as it is only required if you want to receive a deduction or credits for your tuition paid. At the very least, if you are not taking AOC because you want to maximize the credit in another year (smart choice), then select another deduction or credit, if it makes sense, as there is not a lifetime limitation for the Tuition and Fees Deduction or Lifetime Learning Credit.
