If my husband and I filed joint federal taxes, but are filing separate state taxes, who can claim our children? We have different state residency.

He is not legally required to file state taxes due to his residency (and being in the military). I work and am a resident of NC. Can I claim our children as dependents for the tax credit? We filed jointly on our federal taxes.

Either one of you can claim the children on the state since you are a filing state separately. The link below will assist you in the best way in doing this to ensure that your information is accurate.
