Are lab tests ordered by my Dr. deductible on my return as a medical expense and because I have to travel, are the travel expenses also deductible?

I went to a lab for blood work that charges less money than the Dr. or the hospital was going to charge me. I was not on Medicare at the time and had no insurance. I had to travel about 80 miles one way to the closest lab to me. Is this expense, both the cost of the lab work, and the mileage and gas deductible on my return?

Yes, you can deduct the costs of your lab tests and the mileage (at 19 cents/mile, you don't add gas) to the lab, you can only claim the amount of medical expenses that exceed 10% of your Adjusted Gross Income (7.5% if you are over 65).
