Can I file for extension since I'm going through divorce. I dont know when the divorce will be finalized.

Yes you can file an extension if you would prefer. But, if you are filing your extension due to your filing status, you will still file either Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately for 2016,  because your marital status for your tax return is what is was as of December 31st, 2016 according to IRS rules.
