If you're referring to Online TurboTax (web version), you're trying too early. The Online version normally opens for the new tax year in early December, i.e., that's when you can start a 2024 return online preparation. On the other hand, the desktop version is available now (2024 software download to install on- your computer.)

Thanks you for your quick and simple response. You saved me a lot of unnecessary anxiety. Most appreciated,
John
You're welcome. Good luck.
Turbotax is a great tool to load in info and get a tax liability number. Seems like a missed opportunity to make the system available for paying subscribers for pro forma work on next year's taxes. Or current year's taxes mid year to make sure you are on track.
Is it to avoid potential liability for miscalculations, etc? If so, I'll give my firstborn as collateral that I won't sue. Just seems kinda strange that the software can't be used for mid year pro forma tax estimation work. Or even some other tool inside the website that can be used.
On the other hand I now have some nice home made excel files for pro forma taxes during the year. Would have saved a LOT of effort if there was something more premade to do that work.
December 2, 2024 a Turbotax rep informed me they are having issues with the Turbotax online rollout for 2024 tax preparation, that they may take a week or two to resolve.
