Will it matter that I had to become my mother's legal guardian in 2018?

No the fact that you have become your mother's legal guardian should not have any effect on your tax return.  

However, as your mother's legal guardian, if she needs to file a tax return you may have to prepare or have someone else prepare her tax return if she is unable to do so herself.
