Why when you file electronically does it want your AGI from your original return and not the amended one

I went to submit my returns and they got rejected because I used the AGI from my 2019 Amended return not the original return... That would be a nice thing to put in the directions or as a check when you're going to file. The software prepopulated the AGI value with a totally wrong value by the way like not even close... so that was weird.
