You are probably seeing the $6900 amount on the screen or on your tax forms because that is the contribution limit for Health Savings Accounts when you have a 'family' High Deductible Health Plan.
That does not indicate that you contributed $6900. Take a look at Form 8889-T (or 8889-S) line 9 for the amount that was contributed to your HSA through your employer.
