Why did I have to purchade Turbo Tax Deluxe this year vs Free edition the past 6 yrs?

Turbo Charge must have a glich in the system...capital gains that have not been distributed...Made me go to the Deluxe version...However, Turbo tax answered me and said I should have restarted rather than continue where I left off...
