t depends on what tax reporting documents (if any) are sent to you by the grant giver. Could be a 1099-MISC, 1099-R, or something totally different.
We received an emergency covid-19 business grant from our local (county) government. We now received a 1099-G. Where do we enter that information on our return?
That is a Taxable grant.
Please enter it this way:
Click Wages & Income
Scroll down to "Other Common Income" (this is BELOW Unemployment)
Click Show more
Click Start for Other 1099-G Income
Select Yes, we received a 1099-G for government payments
Continue through the section.
The grant will be included in your income.
