Since you have filed, are you looking at the PDF copy that you saved in February? Or are you running through TurboTax again?
If you reopen your return, does it say that you have already filed or something like that? Tell it you want to add a state (no, you don't really, but it will let you in the return again).
Then run through the Michigan interview, not changing anything, then go to Print Center (I think it's on the upper right), and tell TurboTax (if you have the chance) to redo the PDF.
As you can tell, we are trying to jiggle the software to get it to use the updated form which is almost certainly there in Online.
Oh, and don't worry if TurboTax is convinced that you are trying to amend your return. We can turn that off if it's a problem.
Form CF-1040 is listed as available. What message are you getting (and where) that Battle Creek is not ready?
hi @BillM223
I have filed my federal and state tax returns (2/2/21) and they've been accepted but when I submitted back in February 2/2/21, my print outs said "do not file, form not final" for my Battle Creek taxes and they've stayed that way since 2/2/21. I've been told multiple times they'll just change magically went the forms approved, but like you said, it's approved, so I'm not sure whats going on. any help would be great.
The CF-1040 appears to be a "common" form for cities in Michigan. Oddly, I can't find such a form on the state's website. However, Battle Creek certainly wants taxes (see this Battle Creek page).
Sometimes versions of our Online and desktop products get out of sync and don't update properly. However, it is likely that the form used in our product has the same boxes and descriptions as the real form, which means everything is fine.
Note that what we e-file is not the PDF that you see, but a format called XML which does not contain any graphical elements like lines or boxes or fixed text. If your return was Accepted by the state, then the XML version was fine, as far as the state is concerned.
@BillM223 Thanks for the reply. Where i am concerned is I need to print off and mail in my City of Battle Creek return and I don't have any of the forms from Turbo Tax to do that since they have the "do not file, form not final" text in the download PDF i can access. Any help on when I will be able to print it off? or access the final form? I am getting concerned because they're due April 30 for Battle Creek and I have no forms to submit since they're not final.
Ah, I see, this form is not e-filed.
What platform are you using? Online or CD/download?
If CD/download, are you using it on Windows or a Mac?
What product are you using: Free Edition, Deluxe, Premier, Self-employed, Basic, or Home& Business?
Then I can look into what it would take to get you a final form...
Hi @BillM223 , I filed online using the Deluxe product.
thank you in advance for understanding and helping! It makes me feel better already.
