What does "Were all of your wages and/or your self employment income earned in New York State?" mean?

I am at a part in the state return that is asking me "Were all of your wages and/or your self employment income earned in New York State?". The exact meaning of the question is pretty unclear.

Is this asking if I lived in New York while earning all the money I did for last year, or whether the money I earned is from a company based in New York?
I moved to California towards the end of last year, but am continuing to work for the same company based in New York and so am being taxed by New York state.

It's asking if the total of those two income items is all from NY sources. NY is very aggressive in claiming compensation is earned in NY if that's where the employer is, regardless of where the employee lives.

If as much as $1 of the total was earned from a Calif source then the answer is No, otherwise Yes.

I live in NJ and work in NY. All of my wages are earned from my job in NY but I live in Nj so how would I answer this question?

Are you commuting to NY for work everyday or are there days  when you work from home in NJ. If you commute every day in which you work, then all of your W-2 wages were earned in NY.
